 €278,000 funding for Meath River Rescue will help keep our waterways safe – Butler

Fine Gael TD for Meath West, Ray Butler, has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan, of €278,358 to be provided for the construction of a boathouse and training facility for Meath River Rescue at Balreask Old in Navan. The funding has been made available under the Rural Development Programme.

“This is very welcome news. Meath River Rescue have a deservedly excellent reputation and perform a vital public service for people in the Meath area and beyond. People who avail of our waterways can feel safer knowing that this funding has been provided to Meath River Rescue.

“I also hope that it will encourage people to get out and use our waterways. Meath River Rescue are a superb, volunteer led local organisation who deserve this funding and I have no doubt that these funds will be put to excellent use.”
